01

Choose Les Houches for calmer family days

Les Houches has a village feel and is recognised as a Famille Plus destination. It is a strong choice for families, quieter evenings and access to its own ski area. Prices and parking can also feel more manageable than in central Chamonix, although peak weeks remain busy.

02

Choose Chamonix for energy and nightlife

Central Chamonix puts restaurants, bars, shops and the liveliest atmosphere on the doorstep. It suits guests who want late evenings and immediate town-centre access. The trade-off is more street activity, tighter parking and less private outdoor space.

03

Transport and ski-area access

No single neighbourhood is beside every valley ski area. From Taconnaz, local bus and train stops are about seven minutes away on foot, while private parking helps groups who prefer to drive. Always check seasonal timetables and lift opening before travel.

04

Why Taconnaz can be the middle ground

Grand Cerf is in a quiet hamlet between the two centres. You can spend the day in Chamonix or Les Houches, then return to three en-suite bedrooms, a shared kitchen and living space, parking and a private garden. It is particularly practical for two families or mixed groups.
